I love Stampin’ Up!’s By the Tide stamp set and used it to make this double page scrapbook layout.
It’s so versatile–it can be used for scrapbook pages, masculine & feminine cards, as well as decorating packaging! Here’s an example of a masculine card I created with this stamp set.
I used a variety of colors. Card stock colors were Very Vanilla base, Calypso Coral, Pool Party and Soft Suede. I inked the stamps in Calypso Coral, Rose Red, Gumball Green, Soft Suede and Midnight Muse.
I repeatedly stamped the fan coral in Soft Suede without re-inking. This allowed me to create a soft border along the bottom and sides of the layout. I wanted the layout to look like it was in the ocean.
My favorite effect was inking the sea creature images in one color and then rolling them in a darker color.
This technique shows up the best on the lobster–which was inked in Gumball Green and then rolled in Midnight Muse. Did you know that lobsters are a greenish/bluish/brownish color before they are steamed???
The photo mats will allow for two 3.5″x5″ photos and two 4″x6″ photos. The title can be changed out to any word or phrase. I used the Morning Post Alphabet in Calypso Coral ink matted with a Pool Party circle and a Soft Suede scalloped circle. I especially love the soft look that this alphabet stamp lends to this layout. It’s a considerably more subtle look than my usual style, but the effect I wanted called for these kinds of colors.
Aren’t these stamps gorgeous!!! What would you create with them?
I really like the new digital papers from Stampin’ Up! this week! In 2011, Stampin’ Up! released a photobook called “Delight in the Day” and they just released updated papers to go with it!
Gumball Green, Midnight Muse, Primrose Petals, Raspberry Ripple, Sahara Sand, Summer Starfruit
And here’s the original photobook template!
Lucky YOU! This comes with My Digital Studio when you buy it for (only!) $19.95. Remember though…you can use MDS digital files in other digital design software! So, if you want to buy it, you can get the photobook here.
And…for the creative teens in your life:
The “See Ya Next Year Photobook Template” is full of great digital stamps to use with the book! Lookie:
Did you know that you can use these stamps and other kit elements in other digital projects? Isn’t that cool?
You can get these downloads in my online store. See Ya Next Year is going into my cart! I love the sayings and as my daughter enters high school, these will come in handy!
The daffodils have started to bloom in our yard and I love their cheery yellow happiness! I’m using Stampin’ Up!’s My Digital Studio to create a book of my favorite poems. Another layout is here. Today’s layout features Wordsworth’s poem “Daffodils”.
I loved creating this layout! I used a background of Daffodil Delight card stock (digital, of course!) and layered a Vintage Overlay over it. I recolored the overlay white to keep the overall look light and spring-like. Here’s the Swallowtail butterfly again. I truly love this stamp in rubber or digital form! I recolored both the swallowtail and the title in Summer Starfruit. I love how it changes hue depending on what it’s paired with! The poem is typed into a text box. Using text boxes for the poem, title and author of the poem allows me to move them around until I have a layout that I like.
So, from bottom-most layer to the top-most here are the elements:
Daffodil Delight Digital Card Stock (included with MDS!)
Vintage Overlays Texture 3 Stamp Brush (included with MDS!)
Swallowtail Stamp Brush (133011)
Text boxes for title, author and poem (included with MDS!)
It’s amazing what a simple layout this is and how much I like it. The Vintage Overlays Stamp Brushes add so much interest so easily! I love them, and this one in particular.
Don’t forget you can try My Digital Studio free for 30 days.
Once you’ve used it, I know you’ll love it and want to order it. It’s $19.95 for the software, which comes with card stock and standard designer series paper patterns, punches, some embellishments and lots of digital stamps. You can add more stamp sets, papers or embellishments from my online store! And, remember! Many of the new digital punches and stamps come as SVG files. If you have a digital cutting machine, you can customize and create in paper as well.
Also, spend some time on MyDigitalStudio.net. (It’s where all the cool digi crafters meet–LOL!) Really, it’s been redesigned and there are dozens of video tutorials, weekly challenges and a message board to ask questions and meet new digital crafters! It’s well worth your time if you want to learn more about MDS.
I’m really excited about a new photobook template that Stampin’ Up! released today.
This looks perfect for a summer trip–I know you’ve got a vacation or two planned! Here are the stamp brushes that come with the photobook!
It will be so easy to drop your photos in and then have the fun of applying stamps and captions with these!
There are two other stamp brushes available today as well: Beautiful Birthday and Wonderful Mother.
Check out my online store to buy these or any other Stampin’ Up! supplies!
The new Stampin’ Up! catalog is not even ready and I’m excited for its release on June 1st! To help feed my need to create with new stuff and your desire for sneak peeks, I’m putting together a video series to celebrate!
I’m planning 5 fun projects featuring NEW COLORS, NEW STAMPS and NEW PATTERNS! Each project will be released in a video with a link to a PDF with full supplies and cutting measurements. The projects are EXCLUSIVE to my newsletter subscribers.
By the way, my New Catalog Video Series logo is created using a new digital product with coordinating paper supplies. I mentioned how excited I was to play with the This and That Epic Day smash book/journaling product line in this previous post. Imagine my excitement when I saw the papers and embellishments in digital form! I used the digital download, This and That Epic Day Kit, to create my logo. I love the colors and the fun arrows and buttons!
If you aren’t already subscribed to my newsletter, take a moment to do so now. It’s OK; I’ll wait…
It’s easy and I never, ever share your information with anyone! If you are already subscribed, then you know the ideas and projects that are in my newsletter. I look forward to sharing some of Stampin’ Up!’s new products with you in my exclusive New Catalog Video Series, but you won’t get the series unless you subscribe to my newsletter, so join today!
I continue to play with My Digital Studio from Stampin’ Up! I really enjoy creating with it and created this Best Friend 12″x12″ digital scrapbook page for a challenge.
I used the Pocketful of Posies digital designer series paper, and three stamp brushes: Friends 24-7, Simple Friendship and Vintage Overlays Texture 3.
Creating with My Digital Studio has become a lot less expensive!
MDS is now priced at $19.95!
It’s a great price for digital designing software and new downloads are added weekly. I try to post the new downloads on Wednesdays. You can see and order any of the downloads here.
One of the best things about MDS is that the papers and colors and stamps never retire! Because of that I was able to use Pocketful of Posies when the actual papers are retired! This is awesome because I happen to L_O_V_E the sheet with the branches and birds that I used above! Yippee!
Three of the 4 things I used in my layout come with MDS when you buy it! Friends 24-7 (the image on the lower right corner), Simple Friendship (the half circle above the photo) and Vintage Overlays (the scratchy looking pattern around the edges of the layout) come with My Digital Studio. The only thing you need to buy to recreate this layout is the Pocketful of Posies digital designer series papers (123148).
Get your FREE 30-day trial of MDS. I’m sure your going to enjoy using it.
Be sure to order the full version before your 30 day trial is over! It will help make the transition from trial to full easier.
If you can’t wait to get your hands on this great software, you can order it now!
See you soon,
I am so excited about a new offering from Stampin’ Up! I love to scrapbook–whether it’s digital, 12×12, or mini and Stampin’ Up!’s This and That product line is going to make it easy to scrapbook on the go! If you’ve seen Smash Books, you’ll love This and That–it’s a smash book, Stampin’ Up! style!
I love all of the elements, but my favorite is the date stamp! I’m sooooo glad that SU has brought us a date stamp with cute sayings!
Here is everything you’ll get when you buy the bundle–or you can order the elements separately.
Stampin’ Up! is letting us order this BEFORE the new catalog comes out–from March 23rd through April 30th only! This product line will be in the new catalog and I’m so excited to be able to create mini chronicles of my life. The size (about 6″x8″) makes it great to carry in my purse or store in a shoe box for playing with at home! I think this will make a great 8th grade graduation present for my daughter and her friends! Hmmm…I wonder if they’ll want to get together to create their books?
What do you think? Does this get your creative juices flowing??? What is your favorite item from this product line? Let me know in the comments!
Remember, you can order these products from my online store until April 30th!
See you soon,
Remember when I said I couldn’t wait to play with the Seriously Teen Kit from Stampin’ Up! for My Digital Studio? I played!
The digital kit came at just the right time, too! My daughter’s 8th grade science fair was this week and I wanted to scrap those pictures right away. [I'm soooooo behind that the only way to catch up is to scrap what I have handy! At least then, I don't get further behind! Good tip!]
Everything on this scrapbook page came with the kit. The colors in this kit are: Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Midnight Muse, Sahara Sand, Summer Starfruit, Very Vanilla, Wild Wasabi. You can see all of the pieces here.
I love the torn edges of the accent pieces. I widened and lengthened the arrow in the left lower corner so that I could put the student’s names on it. To add the names, I opened a text box, typed in the names, and then moved the box to the arrow. Here’s a quick photo tutorial on how to rotate the embellishment and the text box…
I hope this mini-tutorial helped you use My Digital Studio a bit better. If you haven’t tried My Digital Studio 2, you can try it our for 30 days–for FREE! Just click on the button below and order it. Don’t forget that My Digital Studio has it’s own website where MDS users can learn, show off their projects and ask questions.
See you soon,
Don’t forget that Sale-A-Bration ends this Friday night! But order early so that you don’t experience any slow-downs while ordering. The Stampin’ Up! ordering site gets REALLY BUSY at the end of a sale!
Oops! I lost a week! So, I’m going to share my favorite new digital downloads from Stampin’ Up! You can see all of the recent downloads in my online store HERE! I’m not sharing them here, but if you’ve become a fan of Stampin’ Up!’s “Label This” series of downloads, you can find the Label This Garage and Label This Playroom downloads in the February 19 downloads! So, without further ado…
The lovely SWALLOWTAIL! Even if you do have this in rubber, you NEED it in digital format. What great overlays and backgrounds would this make!
The Hello There Kit makes fun and spring-like cards and scrapbook pages! Love the colors in this kit! What do you think?
Pretty Poppies! Another large format stamps! This stamp would be great for those 1-special-photo-scrapbook layouts that we need to do once in a while!
How about a Photobook Template that will let you learn more about your family! The Think Back Photobook Template helps you do just that and then print a keepsake book to share!
Lastly, another pretty digital kit! The Spring to Life Kit has lots of great spring colors, gorgeous flowers and peaceful images! This is definitely on my order cart!
Don’t you LOVE the crane and the teapot! Ooh, and all those leaves! I’m a sucker for leaves and natural images!
While these digital downloads will work in any digital design software, but if you don’t have a program already…try My Digital Studio 2! You can try it FREE for 30 days! Just click on the button below and order it!

See you soon,
Today for Valentine Thursday, I have a digital scrapbook layout using My Digital Studio 2 from Stampin’ Up!
I’m teaching myself My Digital Studio 2 and created this 11″x8.5″ layout about our trip to Yankee Candle (“the Mothership” for those of us who LOVE Yankee Candles!) last September. I primarily used a digital kit from Stampin’ Up! called Afternoon Daydream. I love the colors and embellishments.
The colors featured in this kit are: Basic Gray, More Mustard, Pool Party, Primrose Petals. The little flower button on the Primrose Petals and Pool Party hearts is from the Delicate Adornments embellishment downloads. The title, “this time” is one of the sentiments from the Tea Time II Digital Kit. That’s another great kit!
The hearts are from digital punches that come with My Digital Studio 2. I resized and recolored them to my liking.
These are digital versions of some of the embellishments in the Artisan Embellishment Kit from Spring Catalog! There is a “real” version of the Afternoon Daydream kit as well. It’s from the Annual Catalog, p. 167, and is called: Afternoon Daydream Simply Scrappin’ Kit. So, whether you want to create digitally or in real life, you can!
If you’ve never used a digital designing software, there are many great tutorials on mydigitalstudio.net. Here is a tutorial on resizing elements (the pieces of your page) and one on recoloring elements.
Here is what each digital download I used looks like:
Afternoon Daydream Digital Kit
Tea Time II Digital Kit
Last, but not least…you can try out My Digital Studio 2 for FREE for 30 days! If you like it, be sure to buy your new version before the trial is over (it will make it easier to download your paid version!). Click on the image below to try it out!
I hope you enjoyed this brief introduction to My Digital Studio 2. I’m starting a series called “Learn MDS with Me!” every other Tuesday starting in February. Join me and learn from me as I make mistakes and research how to best use MDS2.
See you soon,
I’m (finally) beginning to learn to use My Digital Studio 2 for more than creating logos for my website–LOL! I created a super simple page using the basic digital supplies that come with Stampin’ Up!’s MDS2.
I used a Basic Gray background, inserted 2 photos and then added text blocks for my title and my journaling. Lastly, a strip of ribbon and some quick ties finished off the layout.
MDS2 is fairly easy to learn and there is a supportive community as well as lots of videos at My Digital Studio online.
- If you have another digital design software product, know that the MDS2 digital stamps, punches, etc. can be used in ANY digital design software product!
- MDS2 is compatible with Mac or Windows!
- New artwork is released weekly!
- There are book templates, card templates, page templates, invitations and party supplies and decor to choose from!
- Plus, Stampin’ Up! will print your projects for you! They are high quality and competitively priced!
The BEST PART??? You can try My Digital Studio 2 for FREE for 30 days to see what it can do!
See you soon,
P.S. Don’t forget that Sale-a-bration begins on January 22nd! Earn FREE stamps, etc. with every $50 in product you buy!
Today are the last two inserts in my Merry Moments Christmas Frame. I loved using Stampin’ Up!’s Merry Moments Simply Scrappin’ Kit to create this frame. The first insert today uses many of the card stock stickers in the Merry Moment’s kit. If you are at all interested in this kit, order it soon…the Holiday Catalog expires on January 2nd!
This design came about in a very random manner. I knew I wanted to use the ornament card stock sticker, but beyond that, I was open to interpretation! Using a base of Basic Gray card stock, I adhered the ornament 2/3rds of the way down from the top. I used two of the skinny border stickers also from the same pack to make the ‘cord’ the ornament hangs on, then added a piece of scalloped border card stock sticker across the top! Some Rhinestone Basic Jewels bling-up the piece, and a shabby bow of Very Vanilla 1/2″ Seam Binding Ribbon adds texture. The Lucky Limeade card stock accents along the bottom and two sides are from the Floral Frames Framelits. (It was a little experiment. I’m not sure how I feel about it. What do you think???) The Merry Christmas banner is made with Cherry Cobbler card stock and one of the sentiments from the Christmas Lodge stamp set.
This is the last section of these frames. I love the Elegant Bird Bigz Die! It is so pretty and worked well with this simply scrappin’ kit! I used Lucky Limeade for the base of the insert and the body of the bird. One wing was cut out of Lucky Limeade card stock and the other using the striped pattern from Merry Moments. It is hanging from some Linen Thread with another ornament card stock sticker hanging at the bottom. I tied a whimsical scarf made of 3 1/2″ Scalloped Tulle Ribbon in Cherry Cobbler. More bling for his eye and the ornament. The pennants at the top of the layout are also card stock stickers. There are so many great card stock stickers in the scrapping kit!
I hope you enjoyed these panels from my Merry Moments Simply Scrappin’ Kit Christmas Frame. Here’s the whole frame again so you can see how it all works together.
And here are the contents of the Merry Moments Simply Scrappin’ Kit!
This kit contains:
- 8 sheets of card stock: 2 of ea. color; 12″ x 12″
- 6 sheets double-sided paper: 3 of ea. design; 12″ x 12″.
- 3 sheets card stock stickers: 1 of ea. sheet design; 12″ x 12″.
- Colors are: Basic Gray, Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, and Very Vanilla.
Don’t forget! This kit retires when the Holiday Catalog ends on January 2, 2013. It is perfect for the holiday scrapbook you’ll want to create for your Christmas memories! If you want this kit, order it from my online store soon!

See you soon,
I never know where my inspiration will come from. I saw these cute ornaments
and knew that I wanted to make wonky trees for a Christmas layout!
Everything about this layout is wonky and quirky–I love it!! The trees were sooooo easy and fun to make! The key is to use Stampin’ Up!’s Be of Good Cheer Designer Series Paper and a couple of large circles. The colors I used were Pool Party and Cherry Cobbler, along with Early Espresso ink sponged along all the edges. Again, I love the way Stampin’ Up! makes it so easy to combine colors and patterns. I created a tutorial for this layout and you can get it here.
I also love that there are so many styles of creating that I can play with! This layout has a bit of a retro modern feel to it. Other layouts I create are clean and simple, while others are full of layers and texture! Here are some other scrapbook layouts I’ve created: here and here.
Are you interested in learning more about scrapbooking? Let me know and I’ll create more tutorials. I also have a Scrapbooking class on the first Friday of each month during which we create a 2 page scrapbook layout that you can bring home and complete with your photos. See you soon,
I spent some time crafting with friends this weekend and had a great time making this decorative frame using the Merry Moments Simply Scrappin’ Kit and some (*wink!) other cool stuff from Stampin’ Up!
Each of the inserts could be used or modified for a holiday card. I’ll share supplies and directions for these over the next couple of weeks.
I must say, I’ve gotten SO much use from ONE Simply Scrappin’ Kit. So far I’ve made: a double page scrapbook page; six holiday greeting cards, and this frame. I STILL have a bunch of paper and stickers left, too! I think I’ll make a mini album with the remainder of the supplies!
Here is the scrapbook layout–I love it!!!
Now…to fill it with pictures in December!
Here are the cards I’ve made…
I also used the Greetings of the Season stamp set to stamp the sentiments onto the card stock embellishments.
You can see that this is a versatile kit. Each of Stampin’ Up!’s Simply Scrappin’ Kits come with enough paper and sticker embellishments for several scrapbook layouts as well as cards and other projects such as the frame I showed earlier.
Thanks for stopping by and look for more details about the Christmas Frame for the next couple of weeks.
See you soon,
This isn’t what Stampin’ Up! expected from the uber-cute Ghoulish Googlies Designer Kit, but I saw this idea on a fellow stamper’s website and just had to make some! These mini scrapbooks couldn’t be easier to make and I think the parents of the three toddlers I know will enjoy filling them with pictures!
I used one package of the Ghoulish Googlies Designer Kit. The Kit contains: the cute cobwebby tags, the glassine bags, googly eyes, and Pumpkin Pie/Whisper White Baker’s Twine (exclusive to this kit–and, I did not use).
The stamp set I used was Toxic Treats–one of my favorites! The toad is stamped in Old Olive Ink, and the words are stamped in Basic Gray Ink. The tags were sponged with Crumb Cake Ink to tone down the bright white of the tags and make them better match the designer series paper.
I also used pieces of the Howlstooth & Scaringbone Designer Series Paper and Tangerine Tango, Basic Black and Basic Gray card stock.
I cut shapes with the Labels Collection Framelits, the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch and the 2 3/8″ Scallop Punch. Rhinestones add a little pizzazz!
Here’s a photo of the inside, with dimensions for photo trimming.
You can see the cute googly eye on the tag!
Here are basic directions for making these mini scrapbooks:
- Measure your bags and cut your rectangles to fit your project.
- Staple together 3 of the glassine bags at the closed end. You want to be able to slide the pages in and out of the bags.
- Cover the front and back with rectangles of designer series paper. You can also use designer series paper to cover the outside of each bag, but I chose not to.
- Stamp your focal image, trim and mount onto die cut card stock and then onto the cover of the mini album. I used another image on the back of the bag.
- Stamp words and trim closely. Use them to label the front and the pull tabs.
- Cut card stock to fit inside the bags and attach a tag as a pull tab.
- I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere everything to my mini scrapbook. It holds beautifully and I’m not worried that the papers will come off the bags. I hope that these mini albums will be in my friend’s purses and will be shown around!
I hope you enjoyed this little bit of Halloween creativity!
See you soon,
Do you want to start scrapbooking but don’t know where to begin? Let me show you how at my monthly Scrapbookin’ & Stamps class! The next one will be held this Friday, October 5th from 7-9pm.

See you soon,
