Easy Collage-Style Cards

Affection Collection from Stampin' UpI’ve always liked collage-style designs, but was not really good at creating the look.

Stampin’ Up! makes it easy with their new Affection Collection in the Holiday Catalog.

I was lucky enough to get this stamp set as part of my registration for Stampin’ Up Convention this summer.  I’ve only just  begun playing with this set!

Here are a few projects I’ve made so far…

Affection Collection CardThis card is based on one we made at Convention. Ink colors include More Mustard, Daffodil Delight, Midnight Muse, Primrose Petals, and Early Espresso. The card base is a piece of 5.5″ by 8.5″ Primrose Petals card stock folded at 4.25″. I love the addition of the scallop edge border punched Early Espresso piece peeking out of the bottom of the main image. It’s a great little technique to add subtle interest to a card or scrapbook page. I’m also obsessed with the tiny flower from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack!

Affection Collection Stamps with Essentials Designer Fabric FlowerThis pocket card uses the Affection Collection images as well as a couple of new items to Stampin Up. The fabric used  for the flower is from Essentials Designer Fabric and the card is made from a sheet of the Natural Composition Specialty paper. This paper has glossy, raised patterns on a kraft colored card stock. It’s really fun to use and makes you touch the paper–it’s a cool texture!

Affection Collection Card using Essentials Paper Piercing Pack and ToolThis is my favorite card of the three! I LOVE paper piercing. I don’t know why; I just do! I really enjoyed making this design. Each element is stamped directly to the card–a one-layer card. This type of card is really hard for me, but the Affection Collection makes this technique sooooooo easy! Thanks, Stampin’ Up!

The card base is Naturals White card stock cut to 4.25″ by 11″ and folded at 5.5″. Ink colors were: Daffodil Delight, Midnight Muse, Lucky Limeade, and Raspberry Ripple. After the card was finished, I used the Essentials Paper Piecing Pack, the Stampin’ Pierce Mat and Paper-Piercing Tool to add some pierced interest to my card. Paper piercing is a great way to create an easy WOW factor! You’ll see an oval, heart and border flourish on this card. Come back Friday for a quick video tutorial on Paper Piercing! I also used some Rhinestone Basic Jewels to bling-up the card a bit!

I’ll definitely be creating and sharing more cards with this set! If you’ve fallen in love with Affection Collection, you can order it and all the other supplies I used in my online store!
